Greek Style Turkey Burgers
These are so packed with flavor and go really well with a simple salad or in a pita with tzatziki sauce. They go together really quick and are a perfect meat addition to a meal anytime of year.
Makes 4- (6) ounce burgers
1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
1 egg
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
3 ounces feta (crumbled)
12-15 pitted kalamata olives (chopped)
2 garlic cloves (grated or minced)
2 tablespoons fresh oregano (chopped fine, or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon salt
Greek yogurt (to serve, optional)
Chives (for garnish)
To make:
In large bowl, combine turkey, egg, bread crumbs, olives, feta, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix by hand until well combined. Separate into 4 patties.
In large skillet over medium- high heat, add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and let heat. Once heated, add the burgers and cook 3-4 minutes each side until browned on each side. Lower heat and cover and continue to cook until internal temperature is 155-160. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Serve over salad or with pita and tzatziki sauce. I keep it simple with a salad and a dollop of greek yogurt and chives on top.
